Old Mains Fishing
THE BEAT

The beat comprises of 3Km of single bank fishing and has a mixture of pools and runs which provide for fishing with fly, spinning or worming. There are 7 named pools and numerous runs which have been prolific for Sea Trout fly fishing in recent years. There is also access to some pools for fishermen with disabilities. “Ghillie” services are also available if required.
Good riverside access allows anglers with mobility problems to fish some of the more productive pools without difficulty.
The beat has a good record of catches of salmon and sea trout.
The old mains beat access is off the main A76, about one mile south of Sanquhar. Parking for the fishing is at the old Mains Cottage and with short access paths leading to the river.
